Mesmerized by a computer screen
That spews out thoughts and images
An army on my synapses

Looking for flickers of validation
The connection to something greater
A heightened sense of existence
A meaning for my life

But stop, be still, be silent, don't cry
Hear, your needs are simple
Quiet the runaway mind
That picks at pointless preoccupations

Lay down, wrap your arms around a pillow
Imagine it's a chest, a heart pounding a lullaby
This place that's safe and warm
